Some 5,000 years ago, was lifted a village in Las Amoladeras, at the entrance of La Manga.
The settlement was formed by a group of circular huts, built of branches and mud.
Although La Manga acquired its present morphology in the seventeenth century, early human, we refer to the Neolithic.
The village did not have any kind of defense and its inhabitants lived
on fishing and gathering shellfish.
In pre-historic times La Manga was used as a factory fishing, as evidenced by the remains of pits found in The Estacio.
In the seabed of La Manga have found many remains of boats Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans, carrying bars of silver, lead and amphorae with all sorts of goods.
The environment was made up of large tracts of forest that came to the seashore.
The wealth of Sierra Mining and exceptional conditions in the
Mar
Menor Area. attracted new settlers. Iberians, Romans and Carthaginians
exploded silver mining and fishing industries have developed highly
prized in antiquity.
The arrival of the Arabs involved the creation of Encañizadas, fishing
method is still used. Through stakes and Cañiza, was done fishing for
mullet and other species typical of the Mar Menor.
